Today, let's talk about how to erase your patterns. What is the different way to do it and which is the best!
Lets say you make a mistake and want to start over, or you have finished your embroidery and now want to clean it up for display. What do you do? I have used a couple different methods and will share my experience.
1. Iron
It's the first way I was erasing my pattern. It works
perfect with flat fabric and flat embroidery. After finishing more complex patterns with different layers, I realized this was not the best way. I would only recommend t
his way if it is a simple flat pattern.
2.Hair dryer
This is the second way I stared to clean up my patterns. While it was effective, it was loud! I was happy with it, but it is a bit cumbersome and does not direct the hot air. Most people have a hair dryer on hand so if you don't want to spend the money on a heat gun this will work just fine. I totally recommend using your hair dryer.
3.Heat gun
While I am totally happy with using my hair dryer erase my pattern, I feel that the heat gun does a better job. First, it uses less electricity so this is always good. Especially if you are on the go or part of the van/RV life community. This allows you save more of your precious electricity when off the grid and still working. Also, it is quieter than a hair dryer. Finally, my favorite part! The air outlet of the heat gun is smaller than the hair dryer, so you can be more accurate with the directed heat.
